We only get one set of adult teeth and they are expected to last a lifetime, but often this doesn’t happen…
Accidents happen, we’re all human, and sometimes we lose, chip or break our teeth and require replacements. Here at SV Implant Centre located on the campus of St Vincent’s Hospital in Fitzroy, we provide implants to replace your missing teeth. Your natural teeth consist of some of the hardest bone and tissue in your body, which is why replacing them with a prosthetic solution is so difficult. While other treatments such as crowns and bridges provide a solution to your missing teeth they do not guarantee the same security as dental implants.
Dental implants are literally ‘implanted’ into your jaw to provide a permanent fixture that can hold your prosthetic tooth in place. This means we are able to attach a crown, bridge or denture to the implant without disturbing your surrounding natural teeth.
Why chose dental implants?
Keeping your natural teeth is ideal as they are rooted into the tissue in your mouth allowing them to feed off the nutrients in your body. If you do require a replacement we encourage you to consider dental implants above all else. Dental implants have many benefits including:
- Being permanently fused to your bone
- Surrounding teeth are not affected
- Looks, functions and feels like your natural teeth
- Once healed you can maintain your regular oral hygiene routine
Here at SV Implant Centre we will help ensure your dental implant treatment is as comfortable as possible. We can insert your implants under local anaesthesia (in the dental chair) or under general anaesthesia (in hospital, where the patient is asleep). Before your treatment we will discuss the most appropriate form of anaesthesia required for your surgery. This may be dependent on a few factors including; the amount of teeth missing, the patient’s preference and the condition of the patient’s mouth. During your consultation we will also examine your mouth to determine a treatment plan and to discuss what you hope to achieve from your surgery.
If you find yourself with a missing tooth or teeth we encourage you to consider implant dentistry as a permanent and comfortable solution.
