Dental implants are required when a patient has suffered single or multiple tooth loss due to an oral trauma, tooth decay or gum disease. Our implants are made from ‘grade 5’ titanium: this titanium alloy provides strength and high compatibility with jawbone material. Dental implants act as “screws” that are placed into the jawbone as a substitute for a missing tooth root. Over a period of three to six months, the jawbone bonds with the titanium, creating a solid permanent foundation. Small posts are then attached to these implants, which poke through the gums and create a support for prosthetic teeth or fixed dentures. The dental implants at SV Implant Centre can be utilised to secure a single tooth, a bridge or an entire upper (maxillary) or lower.
Dental implants not only improve the appearance and function of smiles, they also can actively prevent negative conditions associated with tooth loss. Missing teeth can cause:
Modern dental implants are generally constructed from titanium. Titanium dental implants provide a highly bio-compatible surface, which enables bone to completely fill in around the implant and provide long-term stability. The dental implants we utilise at SV Implant Centre are made of a ‘grade 5’ titanium alloy (containing 6% Aluminium and 4% Vanadium alloy) which offers better fracture resistance and tensile strength than other commercial implant materials.
Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
